I'm Arundhati Nath, a freelance writer, children's author and journalist currently based in Guwahati, Assam in Northeast India.
I have written for national and international publications such as The Guardian, BBC Wildlife, The Christian Science Monitor, Al Jazeera English, National Geographic Traveller India, Outlook Traveller, JetWings, Mother & Baby, Parent and Child, India Currents, The Swaddle, Indian Moms Connect, Parents World, Child magazine, Mint Lounge, VIBE magazine (Dainik Bhaskar), The Better India, The Hindu Young World, Pulse, Crystal Quest, Sterling World and The Assam Tribune.
I’ve professional proficiency in three languages: English, Hindi and Assamese. Occasionally, I dip into fiction and poetry in these three languages, and I can translate fiction and non-fiction from Assamese to English.
I love writing on the environment, development, human rights, travel, culture, parenting, current affairs, women’s issues and children’s interest.. I have authored two picture books for young readers, and children's writing has been a very fun filled experience. I have a keen desire to explore other areas of writing in the future.
I have a degree in Commerce with specialization in Accountancy. Also, I've a Red Seal Diploma in Creative Writing from The Writers Bureau, Manchester, UK.
I'm trained in Indian classical music, devotional and modern songs. I have a Bachelors of Music Degree in Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal). I was a junior radio artiste with All India Radio and I’ve performed for Doordarshan, the national television channel in India. My other interests include books, music, culture, food, travel and photography.
Before plunging into full-time freelancing, I've worked for more than six years at State Bank of India, the largest Indian, multinational banking and finance services company.
